Lisa-Marie Cabrelli, Ph.D.
Hiya! I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m just an ordinary person…
helping people create extraordinary lives.
I get immense joy and satisfaction from the following things in my life: my husband, my daughter, my family, my friends, creating things out of nothing (books, stories, courses), reading fiction, traveling to cool places, good food and wine, and finally… helping people.
Why would you trust me to help you?
You probably shouldn't unless I've done it before.
Here's my life in bullet points...
Began my working life as an actor and had eight years of acting training before performing all over the place and working as a voice-over artist.
Spent a career in corporate America as a business systems analyst. Designed, developed & launched a global CRM system for an international telecom.
Left corporate in 2006 and started a location-independent eCommerce company with $500 and a book on building a Yahoo Store
Started Laptop Life Coaching alongside my business to help women entrepreneurs. I took my first client from earning $28K/year as a teacher to earning $18K/month within six months.
Became a digital nomad in 2008 - I now spread my time between our homes in The Bahamas, Italy, Scotland, and the US (plus travel in between)
Sold the eCommerce company for 7-figures in 2015 and "retired."
Spent a year or two doing high-end consulting. I designed and implemented business process re-engineering plans for larger companies. I also ran a digital marketing campaign that helped a major telecom win a $350M cellular license bid.
Followed my dream of writing novels and wrote and published four romantic comedy beach reads
Went back to school and got my M.Litt in Crime Fiction (with Distinction) and won the Val McDermid Award for Best Dissertation.
Developed a curriculum for “How to Outline Your Novel” from scratch and taught University undergraduates at The University of Dundee
Created a course called “Magical Academic Note-Taking” to teach academics worldwide how to use Roam Research to create a dissertation, academic paper, or thesis. This course earned five figures in under a year. I have now donated the course to a university librarian who is using it as the basis to create an academic personal knowledge management (PKM) community.
Earned my Ph.D. in Creative Writing
Sold The Descent, the novel I wrote as my thesis, to Yonder.
Created a Substack newsletter for midlife women called Call for Heroines.
Currently publishing a serialized crime novel called Bad Boys.
I’ve used everything I’ve learned to create my magnum opus, The Heroine’s Adventure—a life-planning guide to plotting your extraordinary life using the secrets of story and the heroine’s journey.
